Health Exec News recently featured an article on the 25 most visually-stunning hospitals in the world, naming their #1 winner, a resort-like Southern California hospital based in San Diego. Also included was a community medical center in Northern California. Here’s the scoop on some of the most beautiful architectural designs to be found in hospitals of the California areas.
The following hospitals were featured in The 25 Most Beautiful Hospitals in the World.
Sharp Memorial Hospital, San Diego, California
7901 Frost Street, San Diego, CA 92123
From the site:
“The Stephen Birch Healthcare Center at Sharp Memorial Hospital offers clinical excellence with the latest technology and patient-centered care. The hospital is known for its outstanding programs in heart care, cancer treatment, orthopedics, rehabilitation, robotic surgery and multi-organ transplantation.”
The Southern California hospital’s Jade Garden is a brilliant example of green architecture at its finest. The hospital’s “green roof” features 5,000 square feet of potted plants, trees, and various ground coverings, all visually accessible from many of the patient rooms, providing a healing experience for patients recovering from cancer, heart surgery, or stroke.

Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula, Monterey, California
Encompassing various medical clinics in the Monterey area of Northern California
It’s no wonder that this coastal California resort town would have a hospital that matches the Monterey standard of excellence in splendor and artistic expression. Esthetically charming medical offices include a cancer center, emergency room services, medical imaging center, laboratory, cardiac care, behavioral health, and more.
Their many clinics feature retro-style medical architecture, winding woodland trails, and sweeping landscapes.
See their Facebook page for some stunning photos of their medical center.
