A recent joint project between Madison Medical Construction, Variware inc. and Cal-Scan Medical Enterprises Inc. has just been completed in Encino. The project consisted of replacing antiquated MRI equipment with a Phillips 1.5 Tesla Ultra Short Bore MRI unit. The existing shielded room had to be partially demolished and then expanded to double the size in order to fit the new equipment. To move the 17,000+ lbs magnet into the room, a small portion of the building was dis-assembled, the plate glass windows were removed and a crane was required to hoist the machines through opening so the could be placed.
Variware supplied the refurbished equipment with full warranty, and Cal-Scan provided the technical support and staff training at a fraction of the retail cost of the unit. “We had to shut down a traffic lane for the full day on Ventura blvd. for the equipment rigging, but it was well worth it! Everything went exactly as planned” Mazin Faour, president of Variware Inc.
Madison Medical Construction provided all site work including the MRI shielding fabrication, framing, electrical, plumbing and glass work as well as the final finishing. “The project went smoothly” said Dr. Roy Rezvon, owner of DISC Radiology
