Medical Construction and Design at UCSF
After over ten years in the making, the northern California hospital in Mission Bay has completed its medical construction and design renovations. On February 1st, the biomedical research campus will open its freshly revamped doors to the public, including remodeled wings for the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital San Francisco, UCSF Betty Irene Moore Women’s Hospital and UCSF Bakar Cancer Hospital. The newly completed construction project gave the facilities a 289-bed children’s hospital complex with improved emergency response and outpatient capabilities and more patient-focused upgrades. “UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay sets a national benchmark for patient- and family-centered healthcare by offering an unparalleled healing environment that supports and connects patients and their families during hospital stays,” said Cindy Lima, executive director of the University California Hospitals project. “These new hospitals expand our capacity to provide the most advanced treatments in buildings that reflect input from the people who will use them.” Over 200 architects, engineers, and medical construction contractors teamed up to complete the landmark hospital construction, which began exactly four years ago.Bullet Points
